BEFORE THE FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS – As the Toronto International Film Festival was called when it launched back in 1976 – Decamped to hustling and bustling King West and it’s magnificent new headquarters at TIFF Bell Lightbox, it called Yorkville home.

And odds are if you remember the TIFF of the Yorkville era, you remember the Cumberland Four, the elegant multiplex theatre that underwent an impressive transformation by Italian architects Goring & Straja in 2013 to become the Nespresso Boutique Bar. Today, the 14,000-square-foot palatial flagship, housing a grand café, lounge and showroom, welcomes festival-goers in staggering numbers, only now to enjoy an ultimate coffee experience rather than film.

But that’s not Nespresso’s only unique connection to TIFF. For the second year, Nespresso Canada is TIFF’s official coffee sponsor, building on the brand’s long- lasting support of cinema while adding to the prestigious list of film festivals that Nespresso partners with around the world, including BAFTA, Berlinale, Cannes, Cluj, Karlovy Vary, Morelia, Rencontres du 7ème Art Lausanne, San Sebastian, TriBeCa, Vienna and Zurich.

Discover your movie character capsule match and enjoy complimentary coffee recipes throughout TIFF at the Nespresso Pop-Up Café, conceived to elevate your experience as a festival-goer. Nespresso Club members will be able to access the Pop-Up Café’s exclusive rooftop terrace to enjoy their coffee — and the view — on downtown’s concrete-and granite-clad David Pecaut Square.

ET Canada’s Sangita Patel hosts inviting exchanges with actors and auteurs who will confer about all things cinema over a cup of Nespresso coffee. The series will kick off during TIFF and tap into visiting talent to create the most compelling content possible. Each segment will be shot as a short film, including a stylized opening montage as a Nespresso is being brewed.

Finally, for the fourth year, Coffee with Creators returns. The Nespresso initiative convenes artists and creators to undertake an intimate discussion about their work, presenting panel discussions with filmmakers, directors and industry experts. Though these outstanding events are private, Nespresso’s social platforms promise to immerse you in the highlights every step of the way.

Indeed, great stories truly begin with coffee.
